Bali, November 13th - 16th 2008
Today more than ever, aging plays an ever-increasing important role in society and is an issue that affects us all. Facing the 21st century, we have to struggle to overcome a new epidemic which called geriatric giants, as elderly population become bigger and bigger. According to United Nations Information Centre, by the year 2050, 12 countries are projected to have more than 10% of oldest-old population. They include not only countries in Europe, but also in Asia Pacific region such as China, Japan, and even in Singapore. Furthermore, five countries will have 10 million or more people over 80 years old, including China, India, the United States, Japan and Indonesia.
Base on those have been stated above, we will hold Asia Pacific Geriatric Conference (APGC) and preConference international workshop in conjunction to APGC in August 2008 to provide better horizon and knowledge on geriatric problems in order to make better health management and exchange information and experiences vital to the advance of health and research in geriatric medicine. |
